BeQ watercolours, sometimes with small additions of mixed media, are often dedicated to the golden moments of people in the Western culture. A culture that is not sustainable, that has already reached the end of the road, and that has got to switch into another track double-quick. (Strangely we still talk of the west, east, south and north of the earth, as if we had not yet grasped the idea that the earth is a globe, not flat...)

The "golden moments" watercolours are the result of my efforts to capture the memories, feelings and the special atmosphere of those moments- experienced personally, or learnt about from other people's photographs and narratives.                          

When painting these pictures it sometimes feels like being on board the Titanic, trying to depict and immortalize all the luxury, all the good moments, before the inevitable collision with the iceberg. But then watercolour would be the last media to choose...
